October Mood board with Erica

Hello! Erica on the blog today with my take of our October Mood board.

It's full of fun colours and textures but I immediately knew I wanted to use these new Cathrine Pooler inks a friend sent me recently. It was like a stroke of fate, the colours my friend sent perfectly matched the mood board! It just had to be done.

I started my placing the big 'kindess' stamp from Kindness Medley in my MISTI and then I got to work with my inks. These inks are so juicy and stamp incredibly well, I am so impressed! Saying that, I do prefer to use my MISTI whenever I stamp up anything, just in case the lines aren't as solid as I'd like or the colour doesn't cover the image very well. It is definitely one of my absolute must-haves.

Anyway, after stamping away for a while I had a nice and bright panel which I used as my background. To incorporate some of the other colours on the mood board I decided to cut out the panel with a scalloped die so it wouldn't cover the whole card base. I used one from Winnie & Walter but you can get a similar one here, then I adhered the panel to a medium grey card base using foam tape.

The last colour to include was black so I stamped up one of the sentiments from the stamp set in VersaMark ink and heat embossed it in white. This I also ran through my BigShot with a small banner die from My Favorite Things.

The banner I also adhered using foam tape. You can't go wrong with some layers in my opinion! Nor sequins... so I added a few of those too. Or a bunch.. depends on your definition of 'a few'. The ones I used are from the new release called Chantilly Cream and they are lovely and sparkly! I will definitely be using those a lot!

With that, I'm all done for today but I'll be back in a couple of weeks with another card and more crafty ramblings. Until then, happy crafting everyone!

Love and Laughter,

Erica

Spreading Kindess card

Hello everyone, Erica on the blog today!

I don't know about you but I've been quite saddened to see so much hatred, friends attacking friends and general unkindness going around lately. Regardless of your political/religious/personal beliefs I think we can all do better with keeping it a bit civilised and perhaps doing less talking and more actions. With that in mind I made this card with a positive message to send out some positive karma into the world.

Using an A2 panel cut out from Ranger Ink water colour paper, I dusted it generously with my anti-static tool as I was going to heat emboss the gorgeous Just A Rose stamp set. I started by stamping it in the middle with VersaMark ink and dusting it with white embossing powder, also from Ranger Ink. Using a mask I already had, I stamped it again on both sides to create a rose bush border, before adding and setting the embossing powder with my heat tool.

Happy Owl-idays!

Hello, everyone! Rachel here with you today!

I'm loving the cute little critters that are going to be coming up in a new release and I think you're going to love them, too. I have a clean and simple creation using a new owl image for you today.

I started my card by masking off a small strip on the right hand side of the card and then blending purple and pink inks into the strip to create an ombre effect. After it had dried, I used a stencil and some texture paste to create my falling snow. I carefully removed my masking paper and then let the texture paste dry.

While I waited, I colored my little owl image and used my Brother Scan N Cut 2 to cut him out. (Have I mentioned lately how much I hate fussy cutting?) When I was sure the card was dry, I used my MISTI to line up my sentiment and stamped it in a bold, black ink. I used some foam tape to adhere my little own beside my sentiment and my card was done!

Thanks for joining me today!
