Spreading Kindess card

Hello everyone, Erica on the blog today!

I don't know about you but I've been quite saddened to see so much hatred, friends attacking friends and general unkindness going around lately. Regardless of your political/religious/personal beliefs I think we can all do better with keeping it a bit civilised and perhaps doing less talking and more actions. With that in mind I made this card with a positive message to send out some positive karma into the world.

Using an A2 panel cut out from Ranger Ink water colour paper, I dusted it generously with my anti-static tool as I was going to heat emboss the gorgeous Just A Rose stamp set. I started by stamping it in the middle with VersaMark ink and dusting it with white embossing powder, also from Ranger Ink. Using a mask I already had, I stamped it again on both sides to create a rose bush border, before adding and setting the embossing powder with my heat tool.

Using a sentiment from Mama Elephant's 'Butterfly Kisses' I stamped the words 'you make the world a better place' in black ink. Quite often I will heat emboss the sentiment too, I really like doing that to make it pop a little bit but for this card I wanted the roses to take centre stage.

Using Gansai Tambi water colours, I did some loose colouring of the flowers. The look I was after was a really simple one and loose water colouring is a great way to make a splash without having to add lots of layers and details. The most difficult thing about this technique is to know when to stop! To frame the sentiment a little bit I added silver colour to the top of the card but it naturally doesn't show up very well in the pictures. Oh well, the recipient of the card will be able to see what we can't from these photos.

The fun thing about doing a simple colouring is all the embellishments you can add without it looking too much. I adore both sequins and enamel accents as you might already know if you have read any of my previous blog posts, I make no excuses, I love them! For this card I started out with the enamel accents and added lots of dots to the petals of the flowers.

When I stepped back to see what else, if anything, the card needed I decided to add a few sequins too. Usually I'm a one or the other kind of girl but I decided to throw caution to the wind and live on the edge crafty-style! Or as other people say, go to town/over the top/just stop 😉 I mixed and matched a few sequins from the Pink Champagne mix.

That's it from me today card wise, but I'd like to encourage everyone to spread kindness and love. Especially with a handmade card. How is that for a perfect excuse to have some crafty me-time?

    Hugs!

    Erica

I have had my Faber-Castell Polochromos pencils for quite a while now, I do believe they were part of my wedding anniversary present last year.. in July... so yeah, they have been around for a while but I've felt too intimidated to try them out. Nuts or what?? Well, for today's card I decided to be brave and just get on with it. And wow. Now I can't believe I waited to long to try them! I decided to use black card stock and gold glitter heat embossing for my card and the colours practically glow!! It's so cool!

My card is pretty simple.  I use the Kindness Medley stamp set and heat embossed it with silver embossing powder on some Canson XL watercolor paper. Used my Zig markers to color the flowers in shades of pink.  Sprinkled a few sequins about for a bit of sparkle.
