Smile!

Hi everyone!

It's not long until Christmas now, who else is excited?? As much as I am looking forward to the holidays, I'm a bit Christmas-card-outed... I've been making them for months now and as the rebel that I am, I am sharing a flowery friendship card today instead of a Christmassy one.

It's not even red, that's how much of a rebel I am! Ooooh, hold your horses, right?! Clearly I have lost one too many marbles...

Surely it's no surprise that I am a huge fan of flowers by now? This Beautiful Bloom-Sweet Rose stamp set I've loved since the first time I saw it and watercolouring it is one of my favorite ways to bring it to life. Using an anti-static tool generously all over the card stock, I then stamped the image with VersaMark ink and sprinkled white embossing powder all over. Tap off the excess before setting it with a heat gun and you are good to go!

Using my Zig Markers and a Prima Marketing water colour brush (the kind that is filled with water) I got to work. I'm not 100% happy with how it came out, I think the lines are a bit too marked and I should have added more water for a softer look but you know, that's ok. Sometimes it's good to 'mess up' a little in order to see what you do vs don't like and how you can avoid it in the future. As with everything, it's practice, practice, practice!

The above photo isn't the best, sorry about that. I will do better for my next post, promise!

A card isn't quite complete without a great sentiment and I chose to combine two to make this one up. The 'Smile' sentiment is from the same stamp set as the flower and the 'life is better with friends' is from Beautiful Bloom-Sunflower set. I used a hot pink ink, Cosmopolitan Pink, from The Ton stamps for the colour and I also added clear embossing powder on top to make it stand out a bit more.

I could have stopped there but I had made a few little boo-boo's with the colouring and decided to cover them up by using sequins. Any excuse to bling up a card, eh? Using a few from the Moonbeam sequin mix I adhered them with Glossy Accent and that was it.

I should have made sure I had better lighting to really show the hot pink-ness of this card, it does actually look more red than it really is. Again, sorry about that. I will do better next time but for now, that's it from me!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Erica!

Love and Laughter,

I have had my Faber-Castell Polochromos pencils for quite a while now, I do believe they were part of my wedding anniversary present last year.. in July... so yeah, they have been around for a while but I've felt too intimidated to try them out. Nuts or what?? Well, for today's card I decided to be brave and just get on with it. And wow. Now I can't believe I waited to long to try them! I decided to use black card stock and gold glitter heat embossing for my card and the colours practically glow!! It's so cool!
Right, I'm skipping ahead a little bit here, let's go back to the beginning. I have used the Kindness Medley stamp set which I stamped with VersaMark on smooth black ca…
