Coffee and Friends

Hello and happy Monday!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I sure did as I spent it with a couple of crafty friends and we mostly crafted all weekend long. We did manage to drag ourselves away from the craft table for a few hours to enjoy the Christmas market and I'm not going to lie, there was a lot of eating involved!

I don't know how much coffee I consumed over the weekend but it was a lot and that was the inspiration behind today's card and matching gift tag. Although I am a straight up espresso kind of gal, the stronger the better really, I love the idea of flavoured coffees. Not so much drinking them though but the idea always appeals to me and today's sequin mix is called Mocha Vanilla Latte, it just screamed 'USE ME'. It seriously looks good enough to eat!

For the card and the tag, I picked out coffee coloured card stock in several shades and picked a metallic copper one to be the main colour. On Kraft card stock I stamped up coffee beans with VersaMark ink and used a copper coloured embossing powered on them to really make it pop. The sentiment, 'Coffee & Friends make the perfect blend' I adore as it's so true.

As usual when I make a shaker card, I build up the frame by diecutting seveal shapes and stacking them on top of each other, adding the sequins and adhering an acetate window to the top layer to close it all up. I tried adding a few coffee beans too but they were too big and I didn't really want to make the card any thicker than it already was so that idea was scrapped.

For the gift tag, I used the same technique to build up the shaker compartment. I used the 'for you' sentiment from Beautiful Bloom-Sunflower stamp set which I also heat embossed in the same copper coloured embossing powder. As the window is quite small for the tag, it's important to not overfill it with sequins so you can still see what it says. The last finishing touches for the tag was a little bow in the same metallic copper card stock and a cream coloured ribbon to match the paler sequins as well as a bit of gold twine to tie it all together.

This card and gift tag would go perfect on a present for a coffee loving friend of a coffee related present. I hope I have inspired you to try out some of the fabulous sequin mixes from Kennedy Grace Creations.

Have a great week and see you soon again,

Erica

Baby Boy card bonanza!

Hi, Erica here with two cards today!

For the release post I made two baby girl card and only one boy card. Naturally, all my friends have decided to give birth to baby boys recently so that one itty-bitty card was already spoken for. Time to remedy that with another two boy cards and the sweet Sweet Baby Mine stamp set.

I started by cutting two A2 sized pieces of Strathmore Bristol Vellum card stock as I wanted to do an ink blended background for both cards. Using Post-It tape I taped strips across the panel to create a pattern, slightly different on both to keep it interesting. On one I went for blue and the other one got green and yellow. I also splattered more blue ink on the blue one and green ink on the green/yellow one.

On another piece of Bristol I stamped two baby lions with VersaMark ink and heat embossed them in white embossing powder. These got coloured in with Zig markers and then fussy cut.

On the blue card I also cut out a white frame as well as the words 'A Boy'…
